Contract Employer: Dilemma and Demand a.k.a Pekerja Kontrak: Antara Dilema dan Tuntutan

Either working for government or private, nowaday the employer tend to take their employee as contract worker first for a period of time before they become temporary or permanent worker. Ok, it do have positive side like the employee have to show their best in work so that their contract will extend or else you are out from the company...

Me myself trap in this issue as I've been a contract staff in a state department for more than 3 years now. Worse, some of my collegues already 5-6 years or there are up to almost 10 years here but still stuck with the 'contract' title.


Temporary is way far better than contract. They eligible get whatever benefits that permanent worker get and their position is at least secure. As contract, not just have the contract itself have to renew but the work quality demanded to have same or more than the temporary and permanent staffs. Benefits as contract? Besides have same paycheck amount and increment stuck after 3 years....hmmm, there's NONE!

In our case here, the contract staffs are paid using project fund. No project means no money, no money means no 'gaji' la. Our position are sooo 'fragile'. Up to now, the contract still extended but surely we looking for something secure. People always say, "It's better rather than unemploy at all". Duhhh, anytime can kick out but at the same time tied with the contract. Want to look for other jobs have to think milion times because the application surely need permission letter from the current employer (at least for us as we're government staffs) and who else to put as referral if not our current bos. Can't 'tipu-tipu' because we're on the system. Adding to our unfortunate fortune, our employer not simply let the contract staffs go and even worse get blame as reason why they hardly offer temporary or permanent position because they already 'invest' money+time+effort, still the contracts look for other opportunity.

Make sense actually about the 'investment' that made by the employer, but  if up 5 to 10 years no recommendation at least temporary position...Wahey!sapa tahan seh??? What to do? Be patient la and have to be more patient because the project to pay our salary for this year still have to bring for futher discussion. Alahai...seems like, this year get first payment on December seh wawawawa (T_T)
